The central “Special Buys” aisle has been removed as the store does not sell bulkier items that would be difficult to transport without a car. CADA introduced messaging to remind customers that the Special Buys that are not available in-store can be bought online.

Self-checkout tills are being introduced for the first time in Aldi Local stores across major cities and CADA have developed a customer journey and messaging to help customers use this new facility.  

Overall, Aldi Local follows the design direction of the new wave of Aldi UK stores, also designed by CADA. These focus on freshness, provenance and value as the core brand messaging and it was important that this was not compromised in any way in shifting to smaller store formats. 

CADA’s work with Aldi has been awarded the FAB 2019 award for Retail Store Environment in the Business Effectiveness category.
