We’re in the midst of April and we’ve already had a busy month attending a lot of events and award ceremonies. However, there’s much more fun to come. Here are just 4 events to attend this April:
Gin off! 2016, Graphic Bar
Tonight is THE GRAPHIC GIN OFF! The tournament will offer a cocktail-fuelled exploration of a multitude of different gins, educating and engaging members of the public and drinks experts alike in an entertaining but highly competitive tournament.
Referred to as ‘The FA Cup of Gin’ The Graphic Gin Off kicked off on Wednesday 24th February 2016 when all sixteen brands gathered at Graphic to be allocated their first round ‘fixtures’ and have photographs taken. Having all provided a bartender to create one representative cocktail for guests to vote for, the brands will begin the battle with the first round taking place tonight!
The 2016 fixtures:
Round 1 – April 18th – Plymouth, Bols Genever, Copper Head, Whitley Neill,
Round 2 – May 23rd – Thomas Dakin, Slingsby, Boxer, East LDN Liquor Co.
Round 3 – June 20th – Ungava, Silent Pool, Pink Pepper, Hayman’s
Round 4 – July 18th – Boodles, Tarquins, Sipsmith, Martin Millers.
Guests at the heats will be given a polling card and a welcome G&T on arrival to the competition. A master of ceremonies will lead the evening’s action and Graphic’s in-house DJ will provide a soundtrack to the event. The participating brands will concoct imaginative bespoke cocktails to be judged in a series of intense rounds, running from April through the grand finale in November.
Let the games commence!
Chilli & Tequila Masterclass, Barrio Soho:
On 25th April, Barrio Soho is collaborating with Herradura Tequila for a hot and spicy chilli and tequila-tasting event. This fiery masterclass will give you the chance to learn how the unique flavours of Tequila can be matched and contrasted with varying degrees of chillies to create a ‘taste-bud sensation of flavours’.
On the night, guests will be presented with one of Barrio’s delicious ‘Hoodrat’ cocktails from the talented bartenders, to awaken their taste buds and get tongues tingling. Chilli expert and Barrio Brixton’s Head Chef, Heath McDonald will then introduce his three chosen chillies, which will be served in a variety of miniature canapés for you to enjoy.
The event will be hosted in the basement bar of the recently refurbished Barrio Soho. With its ever-growing premium tequila collection and aromatic food menu, Barrio is the ideal location for a Mexican fiesta of chillies and tequila.
