Set 100-feet-high under a canopy of holly, ivy, and winter flowers Pergola on the Roof is back and is filled with some of London’s finest restaurants. Here’s what we found:
Pergola on the Roof’s festive makeover means this rooftop venue is not only beautiful but now fully covered and heated
to keep the winter chill at bay. Pergola on the Roof is the perfect wintry escapism – think silver birch trees, low level lighting, blankets, cedar wood, oaky scents and candle light.
We started by ordering our first mulled wine of the season, which tasted even better than I remember. We found a table and browsed the menu, realising this is going to be one hell of a feast. We began with Snaps & Rye’s Kedgeree – a beautifully rich and creamy bowl packed full of flavour.
We moved onto gourmet kebab gurus, Le Bab and tried their free range chicken shish with pickled and charred broccoli and harissa mayo. The kebab held a fantastic range of flavours, with the spicy harissa complimenting the sour pickled broccoli. We could have easily made our way through the entire kebab menu.
Feeling full, yet not defeated, we visited Le Bao for their legendary Belly Bao with hoisin, powdered peanuts, mirin cucumbers and chilli. As anticipated, it was absolutely perfect and melted in our mouths.
To finish, we shared Le Bab’s Festive Rice Pudding, with Baileys Riz-Au-Lait with a Christmas Pudding crumb. The perfect end to our evening.
