Our September Agenda has arrived and with it comes infinite fun and hopefully more summer sunshine. From new night markets to foraged foods, Japanese treats to London’s first croquetas challenge – say goodbye to cosy nights in.
Ask For Janice are inviting inquisitive foodies to learn about the intriguing art of urban foraging and the local ingredients that can be found in unexpected locations across the city.
The evening will be led by renowned wild food forager, Jason Irving, as he provides expert tips on hunter-gathering in the city. Ask For Janice have devised a carefully crafted three-course menu made up of small plates featuring foraged ingredients.
- Pine-smoked ricotta on rye with pickled green elderberries
- Chickweed paired with a ‘Douglas Fir Martinez’
- Wood pigeon sweet chestnut croquette with damson jam
Epicurean Events provides Londoners with a taste of authentic, modern and thrilling world street food cuisine.
Opening this Saturday, Islington’s Night Market are adding a sense of excitement into meal times, taking customers on a sensory trip around the globe through the combination of unique aromas, flavours and textures from each cuisine on offer. Selling everything from flavoursome Tokyo stir fry’s to Venezuelan street food, Islington Night Market will bring together an eclectic mix of styles, ingredients and flavours.
Examples of vendors include:

- Tico’s – Brazilian hot dogs
- Guasacaca – Venezuelan street food
- Cheeky Burger – classic burgers with unusual ingredients, such as peanut butter and Jack Daniels jam

The JSFM is taking over the Urban Food Fest for one day and one day only. They’ll feature the likes of gyoza, Taiwanese bao buns, sushi rolls, etc. and an incredible array of global street food trucks and stalls. On the menu will be Asian inspired vegetarian falafel with hummus & halloumi in a soft tortilla with deli pickles and salsa, and for something sweet you can indulge in glorious triple stacked sponge cakes and gooey melt in the middle brownies.
This month, London is getting its first croquette cook-off. Hosted by chef director Ben Tish, the competition will see each chef present their favourite croquetas recipe to the panel, with entries varying from traditional choices such as Croquetas de Jamon, to more wonderfully unusual creations such as oxtail, apricot and peanut; aubergine and goat’s cheese with crystallised acacia honey and rosemary; and smoked eel, horseradish and beetroot.
Contestants will include Social Wine & Tapas, The Modern Pantry, Oldroyd, Duende, and much more. Tickets are £15 and you’ll get a welcome drink and a chance to both try and mercilessly judge all the entries. It’s a dream come true.

On the menu, you’ll find things like ‘nduja & mascarpone bruschetta, artichoke ravioli, and sweet gnocchi with a molten Nutella filling. With small dishes designed to share, Cucina Rustica is the perfect place to meet with friends.
