It’s finally Friday and we’ve put together a review of some of the best events happening in London this weekend! From Foodie festivals and Christmas master classes to Breakfast doughnuts and savoury pancakes – there’s something for everyone.


Taste of London, Winter Edition

Following the success of this summer’s Regent’s Park shindig, Taste of London descends on Wapping’s Tobacco Dock for a three-day Christmas food fest.

Twenty-one restaurants, including Jose Pizarro, Oldroyd, Kurobuta and Hix, will be setting up shop, while Action Against Hunger hosts a 5 Star Burger Restaurant. Elsewhere, a rotating daily Dessert Bar will offer up sugary tidbits. We’re most looking forward to the Daily Special, which will change daily and be hosted by the likes of El Barrio and Black Axe Mangal.

Novikov Christmas Masterclass

This Saturday you can perfect your Christmas menu at Novikov’s festive themed cookery workshop. Join the restaurant’s in-house chefs for an intensive three-hour cooking course, where you’ll create an array of delicious seasonal dishes. You will get the chance to learn how to prepare:

  • Marinated salmon
  • Gratinated scallops
  • Foie gras au torchon
  • Tortellini with meat stock and truffle
  • Stewed lentil with cotechino
  • Roast veal breast with milk
  • “Bollito misto”: mixed boiled meat and garnishes
  • Panettone butter pudding

You’ll even get to eat the fruits of your labour once you’ve finished and invite a friend for an additional cost of £25.

Fucina’s New Brunch menu

Fucina opened in Marylebone back in October, and we’ve been waiting excitedly for their weekend brunch to arrive. You’ll find freshly baked pastries including Italian doughnuts (Doughnuts for breakfast!), breakfast pizzas, eggs benedict and fresh fruit platters alongside cold-pressed juices, smoothies and coffee roasted in-house.

Where the Pancakes Are

Pancakes trigger memories of growing up; of good times shared around the stove, or, as in many countries, times spent at the local pancake house.

‘Where The Pancakes Are’ is a not-so-traditional pancake house serving good honest sweet & savoury food and beautiful craft ciders, as well as blinis and prosecco. Their menu spans from sweet to savoury and traditional ‘dutch babies’,

  • Royal/Benedict – with hollandaise, poached egg, tarragon and pea shoots
  • Australian – corn fritters, creme fraiche, avocado and mixed leaves
  • Hummingbird – cinnamon tossed pineapple, cream, lime syrup, coconut, pomegranate and toasted almonds
  • Sweet Dutch Baby – Bramley & Cox apple, fresh berries, almond flakes and house cream
  • Savoury Dutch Baby – soft goats cheese, parmesan, cheddar with thyme & rosemary

‘Where the Pancakes Are’ focus on goodness, using organic flour and a natural, hand-tapped maple syrup. As well as that, there are dairy-free, wheat-free and vegan varieties, while drinks include Prosecco and craft brews.
