London is forever falling victim to a food fad. CADA have explored the current trends in both Restaurants and Street Food Vendors. From breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert, there is something for everyone.
As snacks go, it’s hard to beat the humble toastie..but not all of London’s offerings are are as simple as others. The city’s finest feature truffles, foie gras, ox cheek and baked beans. Our personal favourites are Dishroom’ Chilli Cheese toast and Deeney’s Scottish-themed Haggis and rocket.
#2 Ice Cream Sandwiches
Ice cream or gelato wedged between a pair of soft American-style cookies is the only dessert to eat this summer. Prepare your self for a sugar rush with the scoop on the capital’s top 2. Foxlow, Clerkenwell offers the ‘Elvis Presley’, filled with soft serve ice cream, peanut butter and banana (an option to add candied bacon is available if your feeling brave). Blu Top offers coconut and black cherry ice cream, sandwiched between two butter chocolate chip cookies. The perfect way to spend your weekend.
It is fast becoming popular to open an establishment wholly devoted to a single food type. With cereal and toast already covered, it’s now down to another english breakfast favourite – the Egg. Slow-cooked, runny, steamed espresso-style or even with a bloody Mary, London has gone egg mad. One of our personal favourites is pop-up kitchen Yolk. We recommend their runny-yolked scotch egg, packed full of haggis, pork shoulder, herbs and spices and coated in panko breadcrumbs. Bad Egg is another firm favourite. We recommend the huevos rancheros & ham & eggs.
We were lucky enough to try LICKALIX’s special adult-only lollies this week. Available in a range of flavours such as the banana daiquiri, pimms O’Clock, Joan Collins and the shandy poptail, just to name a few, these lollies are bound to be popular through out the summer.
