Every Friday we strive to find the best things on London’s menu that weekend. This week is far from disappointing; Packed full of exciting new restaurant openings, street food vendors and pop-ups so make sure you head out and experience something delicious!
Forza Wins is “BIG TABLE ITALIAN DINING, WOOD FIRED GRILLS, ALL OF THE FUN.”
Throughout summer, Forza Win opened their doors for their Summer Project ’15! They will be serving a deliciously meaty menu (Veggie options available) which will include spit roast leg of Lamb sourced from London’s Ginger Pig.
They offer communal eateries where everyone sits together, pays the same price and shares the same meal. All of the food they serve is grown and reared in the UK, cooked over wood and served across a whole evening. They also raise awareness of the way the world’s food supply is going, so they waste nothing and source everything as close to their place as possible.
We are sad to say that we have only just discovered LemLem Kitchen! They have been residing at Netil Market every saturday and we stumbled across them last weekend. Born in Asmara, Head chef Makda grew up eating a unique African blend of Italian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, which was enjoyed in the homes, as well as the cafeterias and latterias of the city. Makda uses Eritrean flavours to reimagine the street food favourites of her childhood.
You must try their Afro-Tacos and Shiro Fries.
Sunday will welcome London’s first ever Pizza Festival! Top of the bill are pizza pros Francesco and Salvatore Salvo, who are flying over from Naples for the event. Five of the UK’s top pizzerias will also be battling it out to find out whose crust is king, including London pizza joints Yard Sale Pizza, Made of Dough and Sud Italia, as well as Bertha’s from Bristol and Manchester’s Honest Crust.
To wash down all those delicious carbs, Negronis, Italian wine and Beavertown beers will be served throughout the day.
I hope your hungry…
The Modern Pantry opens its second restaurant in Finsbury Square this weekend. Alongside a new restaurant, the Modern Pantry will offer a tapas bar and private dining area. Hot Dinners released a sample of their tapas menu which included:
- Smoked cassava & fenugreek croquettes, quince aioli
- Dhansak spiced rose veal mince omelette, chopped herbs, crispy shallots
- Morcilla mole, salted cocoa nib hen egg, spiced apple relish
The main menu sounds equally delicious but you’ll have to pay them a visit to find out whats on offer. “Although the space looks different to Clerkenwell,” says Anna “it will feel very similar – relaxed and friendly with lots of tasty food and great sherries, wines and cocktails.
Expect bold flavours, colourful ingredients and herbs and spices from around the world. We cant wait!
